“Steamed Merzilka” or Western version of the film “Exam” with blood (spoilers)
Hi all! Recently (more precisely today) I managed to go to the “disgusting eight” of Quentin Tarantino, and after viewing from her there was a pretty good impression that I want to state. I want to warn that of all the films of Tarantino, I watched only Django, so I have no good knowledge of the director’s style.
The only knowledge that I possessed – there will be conversations in the film, the film has Sam Jackson, who is in criminal reading and in Dzhango, as well as Western. The latter was tempting me to compare the film with Django, but as soon as the film begins, you immediately understand that it will be a big mistake to bind films except the setting-the eight initially sets another tone and atmosphere. The appearance on the screen of the heroes occurs to their characters – the hero of Jackson sits on the corpses, calmly waiting for the wagon, the character of Kurt Russell is careful and does not even appear from the wagon until he makes sure that nothing threatens his security and his captive. Self -proclaimed (or not?) The sheriff is protected from any verbal attacks in his direction and even brazenly talks, if he wants, but keeps a distance if his life suddenly appears. The film represents all the other characters in turn its small story, each is long enough to give an idea, and short enough to understand that in the future something else will be told. I will highlight the very beginning separately – Tarantino decided to choose the reliability instead of pleasing to those who can be offended by the film, and as a result in the first fifteen minutes the only woman in the frame receives three times in the face – first with a revolver in the temple, then with his elbow in the nose and, finally, in the same nose with his fist, from everyone who is nearby, except for the coachman, except for the coachman, except for the coachman. Often the word Jackson skipping the word Niger a black guy, but not as often as in Django, although after him something was more than expected.
Having introduced us to each character, the script is accelerating and leading to the first conflict and first death-the old man-confederate is the first to die, having heard the true story of the death of his son. And here the film makes a rather ambiguous trick – flashback and narrative. I did not mention the fact that the film was divided into chapters, and in fact, their use is justified only in one place, because in that place there is an important flashback for the plot. But this is later. The very first flashback takes us 40 seconds ago, and without this technique, the plot could not continue without intelligible evidence – the viewer does not see how the coffee was poisoned before the narrator speaks of this. And after this technique, I felt that what was happening more like some modeled situation with which someone was playing than a real story. Fortunately, this happens very rarely and, in general, the whole film looks in one breath and without losing immersion. However, after this reception, the eight resembles the film an exam, only with blood and murders, which, by the way, are filmed quite well, but not too “cinema”. The plot itself is not too complicated if you look in general, but at the time of viewing it carries so much that when viewing it yourself has to build the theory – and who is the traitor? Who can be trusted? If this person is a traitor, then the rest are not? And if there are more of them? Who is not a traitor? And even if you have chosen someone alone to the scene with a shootout, then do not hope that you are right-there are no good guys in the film, and if someone is not connected with the Domerma hoping to hoping, then he also has his own cat in a bag, not at all the most pleasant person.
The film ends is not good (and it was unlikely that such a film could end well), but very, in its sense, beautifully-the letter aloud in the sea of blood before death looks beautiful and remembered. In general, the film can and even need to be watched, because the plot in it intrigues to the last, the acting game is on top, and at any moment it does not see how someone does not defy or replay, everything is exactly as it should be. It can confuse Russian voice acting, because it does not suit all characters, but in general, even with it you can watch. Music here is always the same as it is necessary, very often begins before someone’s death or during any troubled situation, heating the situation even more, and then sharply silent under the thunder of shots. Despite the fact that the film lasts three hours, this time flies like one moment and I have never caught myself thinking that it would be very tight or bored, what happened while the Django was watching. After watching, I even wanted to catch up with Tarantino’s work and look at at least criminal reading and inglorious bastards. And the “disgusting eight” will advise everyone who loves a good, interesting movie about conversations in the same room and shooting. And if you are scared by the Western prefix, then forget – Western is as much as zombies in the “Walking Dead”, so do not be afraid and go, time will not be spent in vain.
